Aberystwyth’s 2015 St David’s Day Parade (Parêd Gwyl Dewi) will be held on Saturday 28 February. It will follow the same route as previous parades. As well as the parade itself there’s a whole host of other events. Help us by enjoying yourself and making this a day of celebration of Welsh culture!

11.00 – 12.45 Cawl Dinner at the Morlan. An army marches on its stomach … and so do St David’s Day paraders!

1.00 THE PARADE. Start from the Town Clock and finish at Sgwâr Llys y Brenin. Taking part in this year’s procession will be
‘Y Tywysydd’ – Gerald Morgan, Ysgol Penweddig’s first headmaster, author and supporter of good causes and Welsh tutor will be this year’s ‘Tywysydd (guide) and will lead this year’s Parêd.

Ceremony at Sgwâr Llys y Brenin with Rev. Andrew Lenny saying grace. There will also be a minutes silence in rememberance of Dr Meredydd Evans who was the first ever ‘Tywysydd’ in 2013. We will also remember other great patriots with strong connections to Aberystwyth and who recently passed away – John ‘Bwlchlan’ Davies, John Rowlands and Mari Elis. Linda Griffiths will sing Marwnad yr Ehedydd (the Skylark’s Elegy). Legend says that ‘skylark’ was the code name used for Owain Glyndwr during his war for independence.
8.00 – Welsh language singing and music session at the Cŵps pub.
10.00 Capel y Morfa, special St David’s Day service, all welcome.
